Fort Myers Squirrel Situation: Hi Dave: A tenacious squirrel is jumping and running around on my roof at all hours...day AND night. I hear him attempting to get into my gutters (I have gutter guards) and attempting to enter through various attic vent areas. He's making a tremendous amount of noise up there, causing me to lose sleep. I'm also worried that eventully he'll find a way into the attic. It's nervewracking ! My first thought was to poison him, but after reading your article I realize that won't work. What shall I do ? Is there anything an unhandy single woman can do to get rid of him ? Trappers are very expensive, plus if the critter is trapped and released what will prevent him from coming back ? Maxine

My response: That's very odd. Are you sure it hasn't already found a way in? You could try to trap it yourself. If you relocate it at least 5 miles away, you don't have to worry about it coming back.

Doesn't sound like he's in.....sounds not close enough to my bedroom ceiling; I've had a raccoon in the attic and know what it sounds like once they're in. I've stood outside and seen him jump roof to roof (I'm in a townhouse in Fort Myers FL). How would I trap him....? Too risky for me to climb up to the roof...how about a trap on the deck? Where would I buy a trap ? What would I trap him with...what kind of food? Not familiar with how these traps work.

I have squirrels in the attic. How do I get rid of them? I paid a company to put wire on the roof last year. But last week I heard them gnawing on the side of the home near the den window outside. Today when I started to go down stairs into the den there was Sheetrock all over the carpet and a huge hole in the ceiling. Help
